There has been something strange happening around Canberra this Christmas season…

“Oh, Christmas … weed, oh, Christmas … weed, how richly Queanbeyanites have decked thee!”
Those lyrics might sound a little unusual at first, but if you live in or around Queanbeyan, Jerrabomberra or Googong, that might be the exact tune you’ve been singing this Christmas.
That’s because there has been a strange phenomenon taking place.

These older Canberrans are ready to deliver a spray – but not in the way you might think …

A group of mature Canberrans are throwing out all the usual stereotypes. Instead of settling in at home with gardening gloves, knitting needles and bingo cards, they’re picking up spray cans and heading out in search of the nearest dark alleyway …
When you think about street art, graffiti and spray-painting, chances are, you picture youths in hoodies creating illicit art on the walls of a tunnel or alongside the train tracks.

Stop the presses! Canberra now has its own sparkly colour-changing Unicorn Vodka …

*faints with excitement*
Popular distiller and local identity Ben Osborne is back in town, and he’s brought with him an exciting new product – just in time for Christmas.
Ben is well-known as the owner and operator of the cleverly-named Local Spirit, running winery and distillery tours throughout the region.
He earned his stripes working behind cocktail bars and as a brand representative in and around Canberra, before travelling to Tasmania to train as a distiller, and expanding his networks throughout Australia (basing himself for some time in Melbourne) as well as the US.

Puppy love: Colourful ‘cuddlepillars’ the new craze for dishlickers

Nature is full of unusual pairings, and more than any other species, dogs seem happy to be friends with just about anyone.
You don’t have to look far to find the lovely story of the Labrador who was best friends with an elephant; the hound who adopted a baby owl; Fred the retriever and his buddy, Dennis the duck; and brave Milo the dachshund, who decided Bonedigger the lion would be his BFF. And who could forget Canberra’s most lovable pair of mates: Solo and Zama?
But you might not be aware that there’s a whole new phenomenon of animal pairings sweeping through the community, right here in Canberra.
