What’s your worst Canberra road rage experience?

It’s been a while since I’ve encountered a real example of road rage, and it got me thinking – when has this happened to you?

The other evening I was driving home, after a trip to the chemist no less, to pick up all the drugs to treat my first decent flu of the season.

Turning left out of the main street of Queanbeyan – diagonally opposite the police station – I had a red turn light that remained while the main light was green.

This was not good news for the person in the large white dual-cab ute behind me, who was clearly very important and in a serious rush.

How to get a sports car out of the mud

An unexpected encounter with some soggy earth during a recent road trip was a reminder to always be prepared, but also, to make the best of what you’ve got …

How does a sports car even get into the mud in the first place, you might wonder.

Of course, a winery was involved. Like most of the population of Canberra, we took advantage of the recent long weekend to head for the (slightly) warmer shores of the coast.

How to be a better driver

Most of us like to think we’re pretty slick on the roads, but there’s plenty of evidence out there to suggest quite a few of us are wrong.

Learning some more advanced driving techniques can not only help ensure a safer and more comfortable journey – it’s actually a lot of fun to test and challenge your skills.

Here are a few suggestions for more sophisticated driving techniques to try on your next quiet stretch of road. Do just be careful, and don’t allow yourself to be distracted from your driving.

Four tips for camping comfortably in your car

Don’t let a lack of equipment or commitment stop you from giving camping a try. With a bit of preparation and common sense, you can turn your car into a pretty comfortable little hotel room.

Recently I had the opportunity to spend a weekend driving on sand, alongside a great team of experienced 4WDers who are members of the Mitsubishi Pajero Club of Victoria.

About 30 minutes from the city of Portland VIC, past Warrnambool and not far from the South Australian border are the Portland Dunes.

Amazing sand dunes with limited public access (you need to get permission from the Portland Dune Buggy Club), one of the benefits of the location is that the camping site where you can stay is, literally, a 30-second drive from the dunes.
